For Capella and I's Second Quilt Square we did the Emanciptaion Proclamation. On the actual quilt square we did Abraham Lincoln saying "50,000 Slaves will be free! :)" and we did a slave saying "YAY!" because he knew was going to be free. Our Quilt Square is important to Quilting The Nations project because it represents a big event in our nations history and the civil war. The Emancipation Proclamation is a Proclamtion made on September 22nd, by the President of The United States at that time. By Abraham Lincoln saying that by January 1st all slaves in the Confederacy would be Proclaimed free and could join the Union.
