Native Americans were part of almost all the skirmishes in the west. They fought over the course of the entire civil war; 1862-1865. The native Americans won almost all of the battles they fought in. they fought mostly against the south. Some of the native Americans fought to be better accepted into society. Some fought for their rights. They thought that by fighting they could gain rights. This affects today because now they are part of society.
