Capella McCurnin's Artist Statement (Dylans Office)

For Zoe, Austin and I's third quilt square we did people and politics after the civil war. The north won the war against the south in 1877. Because they won they had the say of the fate of the union and slavery. The north also came up with new laws saying that both african americans and whites would be equal and both have the right to vote. This effects us today because if north hadn't made an effort to unite the nation their still might of been slavery today.
