Slaves in the war, Sammi Redder, Deborah

There is two rows of African men all of them have guns, but the two men on each end. The man on the left is holding a sword and the one on the right isn’t carrying anything. They are all wearing similar uniforms and are probably in the army. All of them are men and they look very solemn. Behind them there is what might be a boarding house made out of wood. It doesn’t look like a very nice place to live because the windows are all dark and it looks dirty. The ground looks dry and maybe a mix of gravel and dirt. They are from the District of Columbia and are at Fort Lincoln. The men belong to Company E, 4th US Colored Infantry.
