the siege of Petersburg occurred when the city of Petersburg was attacked by the north to cut train supply lines to the southern soldiers and keep ammunition and resources to a low for the south and a high for the north. the attacks started on June 9th 1864 and ended on march 25 1865 for a northern victory.
