Tani’s artist satatement:
I worked with Dylan on this quilt square. It depicts two sides of a battle fighting. One half is labeled south, the other north. On the north side there is a picture of john Reynolds, a major general for the union army. On the south side there is a picture of Robert E. lee, major general. These generals were both very important to the battle of Gettysburg, which is what this represents. The battle of Gettysburg took place in the town of Gettysburg PA and lasted for three days, June 1st through 3rd and was said to be the bloodiest battle of the civil. This battle was important because after the Union succeeded, the confederates never tried to assault the Union on northern soil.
